1 | Is there salvation for war time sins? | 1 Sam 15:3 | Leslie2540 | 194519
What is stated in the bible about commiting a murder during war if you are a soldier? My father was drafted into Vietnam and doubts his salvation because of acts commited during the war. He is a wonderful man who believes in God. He does not believe he is worthy of salvation because of the choices he was forced to make in defnding his own life while in Vietnam. What would be your response to this and what would you reference in the bible?

God's day to you, Leslie2540, War is a terrible thing. Tho a Vietnam vet, I was spared from shooting anyone. Some of my friends still have a hard time dealing with what they did. No matter what we have doen, God forgives. You dad was following orders. There are serveral times God said to destroy all, as in the verse I cited. I suggest your dad talk to his pastor ... maybe even the chaplin at the Vetran's Hospital. It needs to be a solid Christian who has dealt with war and it is best if it is face to face. I will pray for you and him. Searcher |
