1 | Can we learn anything from Naaman? | 1 Sam 15:22 | Emmaus | 127233 | ||
Country Girl, "What should we learn from Naaman and his story about his healing from leporsy?" We can learn to trust and obey. We can learn that "to obey is better than sacrifice." 1 Samuel 15:22 Irenaeus "‘And [Naaman] dipped himself . . . seven times in the Jordan’ [2 Kgs. 5:14]. It was not for nothing that Naaman of old, when suffering from leprosy, was purified upon his being baptized, but [this served] as an indication to us. For as we are lepers in sin, we are made clean, by means of the sacred water and the invocation of the Lord, from our old transgressions, being spiritually regenerated as newborn babes, even as the Lord has declared: ‘Except a man be born again through water and the Spirit, he shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven’" (Fragment 34 [A.D. 190]). I think the passage on Naaman being cleansed by bathing in the Jordan is an interesting "Type" or Old testament foreshadowing of baptism. Emmaus |

Please see my post to Doc T about verse 12. Is there anything else we can glean or learn from this chapter? I'll monitor the responses closely and try to finalize my opinion in the very near future. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
