A spin off of what Nolan was asking in 2 Kings 16:6. Why are the groups mentioned separately here? Had the division already started? It seem very early in the history for this to happen. | ||||||

I believe that Judah has always been set apart as special, because this is the tribe from which Messiah would come. In fact, all the ancestors of Jesus "just happen" to be highlighted and singled out in the Old Testament. Also, I think Judah is singled out in Samuel because it's David's tribe. | ||||||
