2 | Cultural back drop go to Mothers house | Ruth 1:8 | EdB | 226054
Duplicate question. Many commentaries suggest that since there usually is more connection to the mother that the use of the mother's house is suggestting go back to the one that can best understand you. Other commentaries suggest that houses in these times had separate areas for men and for women. The section of the house for woman was called the Mother's house. Therefore Naomi used the term Mother's house so as not to confuse the issue.
