Greetings Smonkjones! You asked, "What is the significance of being left handed in the Bible? I ask because of the way it was mentioned in reference to the tribe of Benjamin. And if i'm not mistaken there was also a king that was left handed and the way it was mentioned also." Judges 3:15 "But when the sons of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer for them, Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a left-handed man. And the sons of Israel sent tribute by him to Eglon the king of Moab." Judges 20:16 "Out of all these people 700 choice men were left-handed; each one could sling a stone at a hair and not miss." So apparently, the left-handed people were especially adept with the sling, and it could be that being left-handed was a special distinguishing trait of Ehud (possibly in his family) that made him stand out. Personally, I'm more interested in the man with six fingers myself: 2 Samuel 21:20 "There was war at Gath again, where there was a man of great stature who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number; and he also had been born to the giant." 1 Chronicles 20:6 "Again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot; and he also was descended from the giants." :) Blessings to you, Makarios |
