Greetings Churchlady30! Ehud was one of the Judges of Israel. Over a period of time, Israel fell into a vicious cycle. They would fall into sin and God would send an enemy to punish them. They would then repent and God would send a deliever to free them from the enemy. Judges 3:12 tells us that God sent King Eglon as a result of Israel's sin. Verse 14 tells us that Israel was subject to King Eglon for 18 years. Judges 3:15 tells us that Israel cried out to God and He sent them a deliever - a man named Ehud! He killed King Eglon because God sent him to do so. The result, according to v. 30, was 80 years of peace for Israel. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
