1 | Distinguishing accents in Jewish tribes? | Judg 12:6 | Searcher56 | 9558 | ||
Nolan, Just like we have accents in our country, as well as other nations - the Israelites had accents. As far as not being able pronounce the word, it is like my Japanese friends trying to pronounce my name. It comes out tsu-te-bi. I am not sure when it happened, I am not that old :-). Shibboleth menas flowing stream (Strong's 07641) and Sibboleth means an ear of grain or wheat (Strong's 05451). The Britannica says shibboleth is "word or saying used by adherents of a party, sect, or belief and usually regarded by others as empty of real meaning." You can see why I don't like the meanings of words in the English. |
