Hi, MeeMeeSue, The Herod that sought Jesus life at His birth was not the same herod before whom Christ stood prior to His crucifixion. The former was hostile, but did not know him. The latter was not hostile, but rather curious about his powers -- like people today would be curious about a magician or unusual performer.
