According to some theologies or “isms” that’s pretty close if not accurate to the theology, but Jesus came into the world like all son’s of men do, except Adam (Lk:3:38 KJV). And the place of men’s flesh is the place of sin, and like a man of lowest esteem in the world He lived and left the world, on a Cross like a criminal. But the Word of God in the Presence of God (Holy Spirit) in the Son of man, like you say Holy and sinless. Not deserving death for He is sinless but yet experienced death, and return to the place He came from with the key to the gate of hell in His hand. Therefore it’s not so much the flesh but the place it is, because of who God has given charge of it to, meaning men. 1Cor:15:21: For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. One question though where in scripture does it say Jesus “became sin”? How is it that unrighteousness (sin) can make righteous? Jesus is the righteousness that restores the once sinner into the place of His Righteousness, but sin is not removed by sin or becoming sin. |

Hello DP, You ask, "One question though where in scripture does it say Jesus “became sin"? Romans 8:3 tells us what God did: "...sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin". So, Christ came similar to, or in the appearance of sinful flesh, though being the God-man He did not posses a sinful nature. 2 Cor. 5:21 says, "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him" (NASB) The Amplified reads, "For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness]." Paul is saying that Jesus did not commit sin or have any personal aquaintence with it. As Robertson notes, "God "treated as sin" the one "who knew no sin." Brad thanks for the reply, and the references. I looked through all the verses in the NT (KJV) with the word “sin” and didn’t find anything that said became or become but I searched for “become” or “became”, so I missed those versus you found, again thanks. Rom:8:3 it say (KJV) that He condemned sin in the flesh but it doesn’t say He became sin. And it seems that the amplified is expressing that the spirit of what Paul was saying in 2Cor:5:21, by inserting the word “virtually” meaning: In respect of essence or effect, apart from actual form or specific manner; as far as essential qualities or facts are concerned. Would affirm what I posted. In the case of Jesus, clean cleans the unclean, because otherwise, the unclean makes unclean. Therefore Jesus is always clean even in the presence of unclean (flesh). |
