I'm not sure there is a quoteable source. A figure of speech is a figure of speech. Sentence structure, words used, context, understood meaning, rules of grammar and many other factors usually combine to lead us to the such conclusions. To fully understand this perhaps you need to understand what a figure of speech Hyperbole. to do that do a search on GOOGLE for hyperbole and read the definitiona and examples given. Not many commentators comment on a hyperbole when they are obvious most assume the reader has already figured that out for the themselves based on the commonly held rules of grammar. |
