1 | What is the gospel of the mystery? | NT general | Tanielu | 223892
In Acts 28:28 it is written that God's salvation has been sent to the Gentiles and that Paul ministered to them from this point on. I've been reading material on the gospel of the mystery salvation which the Apostle Paul helps to reveal in his various epistles he wrote while in prison. Their claim is that there is a remnant of believers who having heard of the mystery and believe will inherit the highest of heavenly kingdoms. Have you heard of this teaching? And are they on solid scriptural footing in making these claims?

Hi, Tanielu... Welcome to the forum! Yes, this teaching arises in a couple of cults. It not only lacks Scriptural grounds, it contradicts a number of Biblical doctrines. See Matthew 20:1-16. In Him, Doc |

The chapter and verses from Matthew that you quote sort of supports the notion of the mystery gospel in that it is the Gentiles who were from the beginning excluded from God's chosen people to then becoming a graft into the vine, and then finally becoming the recipients of the gospel because God's chosen walked away from the Truth (Acts 28:23-28). So the last become first and the first last.

Dear Tanielu, Although redemption is worked out chronologically, His children were chosen before creation (1 Peter 1:20). The word mystery is used in Scripture in a number of places, also being associated with God's eternal purpose in the gospel. However, that is not because there are different kinds of gospels -- there is only one gospel (Galatians 1:6-9). When the Scriptures use the term mystery associated with the gospel, it is speaking of this same sense that God's will is revealed gradually through time (Ephesians 1:9-10). God does not have a Plan B. Nor does God have alternative methods of salvation throughout time. No one is saved by any other means than through the Lord Jesus Christ -- from the very first person to be saved to the very last. In Him, Doc |
