Dear Shane, it was a place called Sheol which contained two compartments. One was Paradise also called Abraham's bosom and the other was Hades. Paradise was closed as Ephesians states He took them with Him to heaven. Eph 4:8 Therefore it says, "WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN." Then when Jesus told the thief that he would be in paradise with Him He was not refering to heaven. So the anwser to the original question was that Jesus did not go to heaven until after the resurection. | ||||||
