Dear Tamara: Here is something from gotquestians.org Answer: The events surrounding Jesus’ resurrection can be difficult to piece together. We must remember two things: first, the news of Jesus’ resurrection produced much excitement in Jerusalem, and in the ensuing chaos many people were going many different directions. Groups were separated, and several different groups paid visits to the tomb, possibly more than once. Second, the writers of the Gospels did not attempt an exhaustive narrative; in other words, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John had no intention of telling us every detail of the resurrection or every event in the order that it happened. In the battle with skeptics regarding Jesus' resurrection, Christians are in a "no-win" situation. If the resurrection accounts harmonize perfectly, skeptics will claim that the writers of the Gospels conspired together. If the resurrection accounts have some differences, skeptics will claim that the Gospels contradict each other and therefore cannot be trusted. It is our contention that the resurrection accounts can be harmonized and do not contradict each other. However, even if the resurrection accounts cannot be perfectly harmonized, that does not make them untrustworthy. By any reasonable evaluation, the resurrection accounts from the four Gospels are superbly consistent eyewitness testimonies. The central truths - that Jesus was resurrected from the dead and that the resurrected Jesus appeared to many people - are clearly taught in each of the four Gospels. The apparent inconsistencies are in "side issues." How many angels did they see in the tomb, one or two? (Perhaps one person only saw one angel, while the other person saw two angels.) To how many women did Jesus appear, and to whom did He appear first? (While each Gospel has a slightly different sequence to the appearances, none of them claims to be giving the precise chronological order.) So, while the resurrection accounts may seem to be inconsistent, it cannot be proven that the accounts are contradictory. Dear John, thanks for the link, I appreciate that John. This is a question that comes up often when I am talking to middle eastern Muslims, New York is full of em. I had tried to get Doc, Hank and Lionheart to take a look at my Islam tracts in order to give me an opinion of the contents, but got no answers back. I need help with this issue of answering their accusations and observations instead of continually telling them that if they don't take Jesus blood they are going to hell. That doesn't address their concerns about their inability to believe what our scriptures say. I don't assume you will be interested in helping out with this, but if you are my email drop is; whatdoyoubelieve@hotmail.com. God Bless, Tamara

Sorry... I have to triage things... If I read everything everyone sent me immediately after I received it, I'd be doing nothing else! Ah well... (Luke 17:9-10). By the way, Tamara, not everyone should be given answers to their "accusations and observations." Christ speaks of dogs (heretics/apostates) and pigs (sensual) people in Matthew 7:6. Dogs and pigs aren't making accusations and observations because they lack information. Their fundamental problem is a moral one (Romans 1:21-22). In Him, Doc |

Ok Doc point taken, when we evangelize our sucess depends not on whether they take the word they received and get saved, but whether or not we did what we were commanded. Is that why you included Luke 17:9,10? Oh, my I hope you don't think I was looking for browny points... Someone else who looked at the tracts felt it was too much information at one time. God Bless, Tamara

Hi, Tamara... The Luke reference was an attempt at humor for my failure to promptly read your tract. Success is measured by our living uncompromising lives in obedience to God. Neither Ezekiel or Jeremiah had a single convert. We'd not consider them "unsuccessful." In Him, Doc |
