Genesis 5:24 (NASB) 24 Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. This passage does not say anything about Enoch going up or ascending it only says he walked with God and was not. 2 Kings 2:11 (NASB) 11 As they were going along and talking, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind to heaven. Here this passage talks of whirlwind that lifted Elijah up. Acts 1:9-11 (NASB) 9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven." Here Jesus is lifted up and two men (angels?) attest to the fact that he is ascended and will one day return. I don't know about you but I see great differences in these disciptions. In the first two we really don't kwow where they are taken to. However in the case of Jesus we are told He is taken to heaven and will return. |
