Makarios, I think the person may be referring to the WOF version of the hand. It's not scriptural, but here it goes: Thumb represents Apostle because it covers the whole hand, and is distinctly NOT a finger but can stand in any of the other four "offices" quite admirably. Pointing Finger represents the Prophet (which is the office of Hinn, Copeland, Hagen, etc, according to themselves) because they point the people to God, to repentance, to turn away from sin, etc. Middle Finger represents the Evangelist because it stands the tallest, is easiest seen and recognized, is the "glue" keeping the other four digits in unity. The Ring Finger represents the Pastor because it is the finger symbolizing the "marriage" of the church to God and to the five-fold ministry. Little Finger represents the teacher, small but vital to the health of the whole hand, without it the hand may live on but it will be malnourished and deformed. :o) Dhaniei |
