Robert Wood: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! The subject of women in ministry and specfically preaching is a divisive one. On either position of this subject evokes some strong emotions. Both sides of women in ministry have their unique Biblical understanding that they think proves their position. One thing I do know is anyone seeking to be in ministry does not force their call to ministry upon those who oppose the ministry. The Lord calls and preperation for ministry is a major part of that call. Those called by God into servanthood must be humble and willing to allow the church to validate their personal call into ministry. Unless there is a recognizable way to observe a person in serving others in a natural way of their Christian life then the call might be bogus. There are such women as Beth Moore, Kay Author, Ann Graham Lotes, who are not pastors yet have a proven call to minisrty. Women have been and are in many ministry positions today. In the eighteen hundreds there are countless places women started Schools and extended this to sunday Schools and even became pastors of mission churches. God will use those who are willing to serve, especially so if men are unwilling or are not genuine believers to accomplish His work. The huge issue is men are often hard hearted, unsaved, or spiritually inmature to assume leadership of their own family say nothing about a church. There are valid reasons to examine whether there are restrictions on areas that a woman believer may serve in. This is a very difficult subject to dialogue about, without causing unnecessary emotional uprising on either side of the subject. Blessings. justme |
