1 | Transplants, a matter of ethics? | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 212240 | ||
This is an ethics question.Is it Biblical to have an organ transplant? We now have the ability to transplant the Liver, Heart, Lungs, Kidney, Bones, Veins, Arteries, Skin, eye lense tissue, hand, finger and toe, and perhaps more that I don't remember. This last week a Face transplant took place, the first in the USA. There have been people who have received a transplanted major organ and have had personality quirks that are unexplained. Those with the transplanted organ have suddenly taken on some of the donors likes and dislikes. If the personality quirks are real, this might be something to seriously consider what the Bible might suggest in some way. Is it possible that memory might be a part of the organs DNA? I am looking for something that might tie into a Biblical response either for support or rejection of some or all transplants. This is a serious issue as more body parts are being transplanted. Thank you for you answer. justme |

Dear Justme, If you would, please repost your question. I think there are others who can provide some valuable information for you but I wanted to provide a link to an article I think you might find interesting. In doing so, I'm removing your question probably without providing an answer. http://www.christianliferesources.com/?library/view.php(amersand)articleid(equals)417 Remove the parentheses and what is in them and insert the actual symbol. Just my own two cents, trying to put myself in a similar situation, if receiving an organ or such would prolong my life, I would consider it. As well, if I could save a loved one by donating and organ, I would consider it. Biblically all I can seem to relate it to is the fact that whatever God determines to take place will take place. If prolonged life is what He wills, the organ transplants are a good thing. If prolonged or improved life is not what He desires, it just won't happen. Nothing happens outside of God's will. "In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will," - Ephesians 1:11 "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28 Stand in His grace, WOS |
