thanks! i have no doubt what they say can be found in the bible, though it seems if i were to ask a priest, a rabbi, a baptsit, a mormon, etc to interpert the same bible passage, i would get 4 plus different versions. how can the word of god be so differently interperted? thanks!

Hi hic, There are Orthodox systems of interpretation that are sound. Two of the groups of people you listed, Rabbi (Jew) and Mormon (Cult) would obviously vary in their interpretation(s) because they are not considered Christian. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

hhmmmm.... i'm confused. i thought god's word is GOD's word irrespective of whether one is christian or not? are we proposing that GOD is accepting of different interpertations and accordingly different applications of his word due to no other reason than what one considers himself? if the interpertation is permitted to be different, than it stands to reason the application would be also. are we suggesting god abides different applications of how he said something should be done? thanks

The Bible is God's word and one should abide by what it says, the old as well as the new. The Rabbi is Jewish and does not believe that Jesus is the Messiah and goes by the old testament only. The mormon has a different Bible altogether. The Baptist goes by the old and new testament. I find it helpful to study the whole word of God, and go to a non-denominational church that preaches on the Bible. Also it is very extremely helpful to ask God himself for enlightment and the truth of what one is reading! |

Non-denominational churces are no more infallible than denominational churches. Going to a non-denominational church is no guarantee that all or any of what you hear will be sound doctrine. This non-denominational church teaches one thing and that one may teach something different.

One needs to go where the Word of God is taught , denominational or denominational. A Christian should test what is being taught by using the Bible.
