1 | Church of Christ --- A cult?? | Bible general Archive 3 | lionheart | 169594
calmrage, Cult or not.Nothing can justify what happened to this person.People are so ready to play the cult card all the time.I for one find it quite distastefull. If people spent a fraction of the time being 2 Timothy 2:15 disciples of Jesus Christ and no time pointing fingers and chopping people down there would not be these kind of accustions flying around so frequently. Johns epistles give us clear picture of who is of God and who is not.No dis on you here. God's Word does plenty to shed light on things like this. We just gotta ensure that we dont put a shade over the lamp. In Christ, lionheart |

2 | Church of Christ --- A cult?? | Bible general Archive 3 | calmrage | 169607
I think you misunderstood... I said.. that led me to a question of church of Christ.. That has nothing to do about the death of a person. What point fingers?? What distasteful?? I found you being sensitive on this kind of subject. Or you merely just don't understand the question. On your note, you had shared nothing but your sensitivity. Why I asked that question? Being in true religion is more important; I read few web sites about that religion. Some says not a cult, some says the belief is not pure because they do not accept holy spirit. And your answer was merely a rejection. Either you are part of it or you are over sensitive. I would rather see no answer than a sensitive response. Besides, to distinguish what is cult and what is not is very important to many because anti-Christ talks and acts like Christ. If we don't know the difference even a little bit, that will make the gospel false. |

calmrage, Is it not possible to be hardline where God and His Word are concerned and exercise some sensitivity? Jesus did. Your right I probably did misunderstand. That's why I harp on 2 Timothy 2:15 so much. This one guiding principle that if we are not committed to we wont know the difference, not even a little bit. When we are committed to being workmen of Gods Word then we can come with a godly response and wise council when we do encounter things.I didnt say you were pointing fingers, many do though,if I was doing that with you please forgive me. LionHeart.. Again, let me speak of a parable.. so you will understand my question... For example, there is auto accident. A truck full of apples spilled out lots of apples. In my mind, I was thinking about the apples, and I ask if apples are really good for the bodies. And you gave me some verses about Adam and Eve and how people are sinned or not careful in things they do...... and so on.... A plain questions need not to have complicated answer. Perhaps you like to make a big statement about certain things. But again, that is what happened in some Bible Study or Sermon. When we are concentrating one simple things. There is no need to go around about ...... Otherwise, people get more confused.... I hope you understand.. I know you were trying to make a point. However, I think it may only make people hard to understand what you are trying to say even though you use a lot of verses as reference. However, they are not what people want to know. You remind me of some pastors. In order to show how well they know about the Bible. Regardless of what the questions, they will make a big circle of long statements and at the end I was thinking.. For that question, it coule be answer in 1 minute which they can spend 15 minutes trying to make a point. Was that my question??? Or was I not directly enough??? This could be their personalities. Perhaps, you thought I am not a believer and try to convince me the importance rather than the difference. However, this is important for some. A Christian look alike (Mormon or Johovah witness) knocked on the door and say "Knock and ye should find "and spread the so called gospel, we believe? They say thngs so close to the truth... we believe??? Again, simple question needs simple answer.... Thanks for your response anyway....... |

Hello calmrage! You have made some interesting comments regarding lionheart's post in which he was trying to help you. You said " I hope you understand.. I know you were trying to make a point. However, I think it may only make people hard to understand what you are trying to say even though you use a lot of verses as reference. However, they are not what people want to know. " " You remind me of some pastors. In order to show how well they know about the Bible. Regardless of what the questions, they will make a big circle of long statements and at the end I was thinking.. For that question, it coule be answer in 1 minute which they can spend 15 minutes trying to make a point. Was that my question??? Or was I not directly enough??? " Be glad brother lionheart and the pastors you speak of do not give you a simple answer from a man's point of view. They know the importance and value of God's word and that this is where the truth comes from. And you are right, many times this is not "what people want to know". But this is a sign of a mature Christian not a show off. A mature Christian will point you to the scriptures so that the word of God is your guide and not their opinion. Think about that! Would you be more comfortable with lionhearts answer if he would have simply given his opinion and said yes or no to your question or the fact he guides you to scripture so you can see for yourself what the word of God has to say? You said "A Christian look alike (Mormon or Johovah witness) knocked on the door and say "Knock and ye should find "and spread the so called gospel, we believe? They say thngs so close to the truth... we believe??? " Read Galatians 1:6-10 and then read lionhearts post again. Notice his maturity in Christ as he points you to the word of God so that you may know the truth taught to you by God and not by man. You said "Again, simple question needs simple answer...." No. All questions should be seeking the truth regardless if the answer is simple or not. Your Brother in Christ, Steve |

Acutally.. I want answer like this... Johova witness - Believe in the Bible, but do not believe in Christ as Savior Mormon - They have additional book of Authority.. Church of Christ - .... and so on... A distinghish of what each religion belives.. not denomination... I have spoken with some Johova wittness people, they can also quote what the Bible says just like you and lionheart did and yet that is not enough to show that what actually they believe because their gospel is so close... In this age, simply saying believing in God is actually not enough.. Because Christains believe in trinity, not just God.. |

Greetings Calmrage! The only problem with your proposed format is that the same answer would pretty much apply to every cult. Every cult: 1) Accepts the Bible but adds some additional revelation to it. 2) Denies the full deity of Christ. 3) Has some sort of works salvation. 4) Denies the Trinity. Ect... Every cult has some unqiue differences, but they pretty much agree on the basics. :-) p.s. - Welcome to the forum! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
