"That which does not kill me makes me stronger." Actually this is a quote from Rev. Eric Camden on the TV series "7th Heaven." |

Not to be contrary or anything, but I think it was actually Fredrick Nietzche that said “That which does not kill me makes me stronger.” Ocelot |

Ocelot, You are not being contrary, you are being helpful. Thanks for providing the source of the quote. "What does not kill me, makes me stronger." Friedrich Nietzsche, Twilight of the Idols, 1888 German philosopher (1844 - 1900) Grace to you, Kalos :-) |

It is also widely known to have been posted over the gates of one of the Nazi concentration camps. Just as a point of interest. | ||||||

You write: "It is also widely known to have been posted over the gates of one of the Nazi concentration camps." Can you cite some book or publication that supports your assertion? Is there any published proof? If so, please cite the publication where it says that, including title, author, publisher, date and place of publication, etc. |

No. I can't remember where I saw it. I did some google-ing and found some other interesting comments on the subject, but nothing to support my previous post. So thank you for your challenge. I'll be more careful in the future. |

Thanks for your reply. It's not that I doubted what you previously posted. It's just that in case I repeated to others what you had said, I wanted to be prepared to present proof to them. I have read literally thousands of pages (in print) about the Holocaust, but there is so much that I don't know and haven't read. I am, of course, familiar with the slogan over the gates of many of the death camps, the one that reads: Work makes free. (Not sure of the German spelling, so I won't even attempt it. It's something like "Arbeit" or "Arbeiten macht frei.") I, too, did a Google search for the quote you referred to, a search that would link it to the Holocaust or death camps, but found none, although I did not read every last one of the Google search results. Grace to you, Kalos |
