Is an Internet forum a good place to get Bible questions answered? I ask this because there always seems to be an implicit question concerning the qualification of the people who are volunteering to answer. This forum makes a good effort to get people to base their answers on the Bible. But there seems to be no way to force people to back up what they say wwith scriptural citations. There is only one forum that I know of where there are qualified monitors to ensure that sound answers are given. It is at http://hishows.aimoo.com . There are other sites such as http://bgea.org that offer Questions and Answers but do not have a discussion forum. This forum states clearly that "the Lockman Foundation does not pre-screen postings. Postings are the opinions of others and may or may not represent a commonly held view". Would it not be good to have a group of qualified teachers to screen postings and provide answers? Is it not good to have gifted teachers to answer our questions (I offer Romans 12:7,1 Corinthians 12:29 and Eph 4:11,12 in support of this idea). Is it better to let all opinions be aired as equal? Do you have a Bible verse for that? |

I don't thi9nk anyone should "over see" that if the answers that are given are good sound answers, if that happens then you run into the problem all the answers that actually make that forum are the beliefs of those monitoring. This form is made up of New Believers, Non Believers, Layman, Pastors, Teachers ect. I think it shoudl stay that way. I love being able to talk to give answers to, get my answers from all these different people instead of having a norrow view of a couple of people who thinks they know what is right when it comes to Doctrines ect. I have learned which is a little frustrating that the more I learn the more I relieze how much I don't know. Most if not all the questions, notes I have replied to. I ended up learning from. Rather its my own reseach or by someone else. Even the hersey statements made on here, still get me to think Why I believe what I believe. And to that God for giving me the truth. I like the way this form is ran If someone gets outta line there post is gone or locked. I never ever have someone tell me something including my pastor. Which my pastor goes through the bible teaching. But I go and look for it in scripture all the time, if it is a new perpective that I have never heard before. |

In reference to...the people in "control" of the other sites... Who has judged that their answers are "sound"? |

Makarios I read your Bio and I'm very impressed to say the least. Since you've been around awhile you may be able to help me. I would like to know your experience in leading those of other faiths to accept Jesus as their Lord. All I feel I can do is just talk to them about it and pray for their salvation. I can't quote scripture because they don't believe that the Bible is the Word of God (their god.) Do you have any advise? Thank you. |

Greetings my friend! I have been placed in many circumstances throughout my life that have not made it particularly "easy" for me to be a witness for Jesus Christ, that is for sure! But some of the more important things to remember are: while you continue to witness, never give up!! THEY ARE WATCHING YOU! :-) You may be the 'only "Bible" that they ever read!' :-) So take care, my brother in Christ, and never lose heart or sight of Christ, who has ensured victory for those who believe in Him! I have spoken to Satanists, several Jehovah's Witnesses (they keep coming to my door :-) ), several Mormons (they gave me a Book of Mormon :-) ), a self proclaimed 'witch', agnostics, antagonists of all kinds, and other people that severely need the saving grace of Christ. I have been to several jails and witnessed to inmates, even on Sunday. I have witnessed on the street, sometimes giving out tracts and sometimes speaking to people without tracts.. I have walked up to complete strangers in any setting and all walks of life and asked them if they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I have worked in a few factories before, and on 3rd shift before, where it was extremely hard to stand up for your faith in front of men who had only sinful things on their minds.. However, many times I have been called names and have been literally screamed at. Other times, I would find my tracts all torn up, not even looked at. I've been threatened and told not to witness or say anything about Christ. But you see, that's all part of the long haul, my friend, and you will grow from it and learn to take it in stride, because we run a different race than this world does, my friend! Keep your eyes on Jesus Christ, and keep your eyes open for opportunities to share your faith! Keep leading by example, if none of your words find 'good soil.' Remember, you can share what the Lord has done for you, but once you have sincerely shared your testimony, then it is the task of the Holy Spirit to use your testimony to draw another person to Him... We can only share what He has done for us. And we will continue to do so, gladly, until these mortal bodies expire! Blessings to you, Makarios |

That's a fine post, Makarios, and a moving testimony. I'm so thankful that the Lord continues to raise up young men like you who are firm in the faith. My heart rejoices in the knowledge that through young hearts like yours the word of God perpetuates itself from generation to generation. Our Lord said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away." Be of comfort and good cheer, young friend, and keep up the good fight of faith. My admiration of you knows no bounds. --Hank | ||||||
