FytRobert Issue 1 purchase of a building. Depending of the type of church government the church has will determine exactly how it is done. In any case let's decide the decision to this has been agreed upon. The only thing that remains is to find the right building, check on zoning laws, check financing and insuring the building will meet reason expectations of future grow. 2 The disposal of church. Again how that decision is reached will depend on the your type of church government but once the decision is made certain things should be put in place. First if the church has been operating as non profit no money can go to benefit any one individual. I other words the profits can't go the people. It has to be either reinvested in another church building or turned over to a valid non profit organization. Secondly for the general well being of the church it probably should not be disposed of until a suitable replacement is found or decided it was not needed. Raising funds for the building can happen many ways but again depending the on government type of the church will decide how this can be done. I might be through pledges where people will say, "I'm good for this much". I could come from faith pledges where people say, "As God provides I will give this much". It could come from fund raising such as bake sale, candy drives, and etc. the money could come from selling bonds where the people more or less loan the money to build the church. Or it could come from loans. Some churches start building funds and gradually over time receive the money through offerings, gifts and faithful giving get enough money to build. The key to all of this is the government form or type your church is under. If your pastor makes the decisions then he will become the driving force. If on the other hand you have church board that runs things then they will be the driving force. If the church is so organized that matters of the type must be taken to the whole membership then that is where the matter will be decided. EdB |
