Why is it that in the Gospels the last words spoken by Jesus on the Cross are all different? In Mathew, it is 'My God My God why have you foresaken me". In Luke it is "Into thy hands I give my spirit". In John it is "it is finished". Why there is this much differences in the Gospels about the last sentence spoken by Christ? Kindly explain. |

4square, You must undrestand that we are talking about four different men . Each one is writing about what they saw and heard. In Matt27:49 It says that Jesus cried out again in a loud voice and yeild up his spirit. The same in Mark as Matt. Each is really important that they say different things when really each one talks about Jesus death, burial then His glorious resurrection. BB

Jesus could have very well said all these things but at different times as he was dying, like said before these are different accounts from different men. We dont know if they were there at the same time or not. It could have been the last words for John before he left the cross, or that could have been all Matthew heard. But yes they were of Christ's last words because later on he died.
