Hi Doc, Thank you for your encouragement and prayers. Do you think that John Calvin made any distinction between the Word and the word(s) of God? Were they aware yet in his day of the inheritance that they were to receive in/by/through the Scriptures? From the heart, Ray |

Dear Brother Ray, I believe that in Calvin's day their was a much greater understanding of the Word than we have today. It is clear from the writings of these men that they were thoroughly emersed in the Scriptures. Their great discipline has bore the fruit that their sermons and writings are known today. This is not due to their own greatness at all -- for many brilliant men have lived, died, and been forgotten -- but rather God preserves His Own Word and, consequently, preserves the words of those who declare it with the greatest clarity. Every individual word of the Word is necessary to the whole. God has said what He will completely, clearly, and sufficiently. Remember, we live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. In Him, Doc |
