The bible is silent on the practice of cremation. Instead, they most commonly practiced excarnation. Cremanation become popular in the US as the Unitarians gradually gained popularity. Denying the resurection of God, this was their final effort to prevent their own resurection in the unlikely event that they were mistaken in their beliefs. Poor God, what will He do? Oh my what will He do? :-) |

Doc, can't you just imagine the magnitude of the trick that those Unitarians played on Almighty God? How could He who created the universe ex nihilo ever figure out how to resurrect a body from ashes? I suspect that would be far less challenging to God's abilities than for Einstein to add two and two. ..... Puck said it well in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," _Lord, what fools these mortals be!_ --Hank | ||||||

Reminds me of how the Moslems had heard about the story of Messiah, so when they were in control of Jerusalem, they studied the prophecy carefully. Knowing that Jews avoid cemetaries, they carefully built one right in front of the gate that Messiah would have to enter on the foal of a donkey. They went to great pains, and that cemetary is still there. However, they built it around the 1300's. :-) Doc (on my far-better-half's computer) |
