Well in 2 Kings 2:11-12 Elijah was taken into heaven by a whirl wind. In Gen.5:24 enoch was taken up as well, both without death. In Luke 23:24 Jesus said "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." And the term paradise is used to indicate heaven or the presence of God. So to get to heaven in the old testament they made sacrifices to atone for there sins like you see in Leviticus, all the different sacrifices for the different sins , but when Jesus came and died for us He became the ultimate sacrafice. So now he atones for our sins. |

I think you just gave this answer without consulting the other assessment of authorized of the Bible. Yes Elijah was taken into heaven by a whirl wind, if we believed that Elijah was taken into heaven (Kingdom of God) it will contradict the assessment of John that no one ascended to heaven but that came from heaven which is Jesus Christ. Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. The explaination of "heaven" in 2 kings 2:11-12 is the fowls heaven. (a) The firmament, as "fowls of the heaven" (Ge 2:19; 7:3,23; Ps 8:8, etc.), "the eagles of heaven" (La 4:19), etc. (b) The starry heavens (De 17:3; Jer 8:2; Mt 24:29). (c) "The heaven of heavens," or "the third heaven" (De 10:14; 1Ki 8:27; Ps 115:16; 148:4; 2Co 12:2). Because of the limitation of the vision of the eye, writers indicate that Elijah was taken into heaven. About enoch, Paul assess all of them are died in faith. Enoch was translated but died in faith. Heb 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. If believed that not died, again, it will contradict the assessment of Paul that it is appointed to man to die once after this the judgement. Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: About luke 23:24 if we just plainly believed literally about the statement of Christ, it is not true, are they really in paradise on that day? NO Christ was descended to grave in three days, after three days rose again and o many things before go to heaven. God bless, |
