1 | the way to Heaven through habitual sin? | Bible general Archive 2 | New Creature | 110672 | ||
I had a conversation with a gentleman in the local coffe shop last night. I spoke about him in the previous question. see; ("I am not the one sinning") As we were talking about Scripture, he told me that if a Christian continues in habitual sin, then the Lord will take him home rather than let him remain on earth in a life of sin. He said the individual will lose rewards and his works will be burnt up. So my question is two fold. Would you have agreed with this individual? If not, how would you have reasoned to him from God's word? Using the logic that this person used, I can see some actually desiring to continue in a life of sin, since the Lord may possibly take him home sooner. I can't see where this teaching produces the life that pleases our Lord. It seems to me that this teaching might be labeled "antinomianism" What do you think? Awaiting your thoughts Blessings New Creature |

Greetings New Creature, I'm sure that you already know how I'm going to respond to this. :-) Every time a new member poses the question of eternal security, you are quick to post a reference to post # 95250, and I a reference to post # 95230.. :-) But to get back to your conversation.. I would say that the Word of God clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an excuse for sinful living and carnality (Romans 6:15-22; 13:13,14; Gal. 5:13,16,17,25,26; Titus 2:11-14). If your friend did not stress this point, then I disagree with his stance, since we are admonished over and over in the New Testament not to continue in our lives of sin. Blessings to you, Makarios |

makarios the individual never stressed the fact that God's word clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an excuse for sinful living, nor did he elude to it in any form. I only heard him attempt to give license to sin. Blessings New Creature |

Makarios; I agree. I just wanted to see how others in the forum would respond. I personally do not see where our Christian liberty gives us license to continue in a life-style of habitual sin. The antinomians however do believe we have a license to sin. For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. (Jude 1:4 NIV) Thanks for your sincere reply. I do respect your thoughts in this forum, even if we disagree in other areas, or about other questions that arise in this forum. Blessings to you New Creature |

You are welcome, my friend! No matter where we stand on the issue of eternal security, the Bible is absolutely clear on one issue: that no one in human history has ever been given a free license to sin! "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23 If we were all given a free license to sin, then what need would we have of a Savior? (Food for thought for your friend.) :-) Blessings to you, Makarios |
