Hello, I've been a Christian for about 10 years. Recently, I took a class in school about goal setting, affirmations, and self-talk. I found the information truly life-changing. I have changed as a person and gotten over a lot of problems I had from the past (it was a long class). I practiced "critically thinking" about situations in my life, to come to logical conclusions. That being said, I learned a lot and like the place that I am in now, as a result of this class. The unfortunate problem that I am having stems from the fact, that, I can find no place for God in this way of thinking, so I am happy for my success, but wary of continuing on this path. Also, unfortunate, is that I was not able to get through these problems I had, through studying and communing with God. This leaves me in a weird place, because I know God exist, but I am a little perturbed that I couldn't overcome my issues through Christ, but a self-help approach, seemingly, did. The over all question I am asking is, is there a place for God in critical thinking and affirmations? I have been doing some research online and didn't find anything useful. I also wanted to see if Hank Hanegraff had anything to say about this subject, still no luck. Does anyone have any information about this subject that I should read? Also, does St. Augustine have anything to say on this subject? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks for reading. MzS | ||||||
