Are the events in the Gospels in Chronological order? For example, do the events of the second chapter of mathew take place after events of the first chapter and so on? Thank you. GeeVee |

Hello GeeVee None of the gospels are in exact chronological order. I believe Mark is considered to be the most accurate in that regard. The reason for this is the intent of the gospel authors in presenting there themes. For instance, Matthew was showing Jesus to be the coming king and therefore constructed his book to systematically show his proof based on the historical facts. Steve |

Hi Steve, I always thought that Luke was the one who claimed to have done everything "in order". Luke 1:3, "it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus; so that you might know the exact truth about the things you have been taught." Hello Ray I admit there is disagreement over Mark and Luke as to which is more correct. I'm just going off of charts that others have done. Steve |

Steve: (This is not directed at you personally. The reason is that you did not say that you disagreed, but that "there is disagreement." So do not take this as criticism of you, my friend.) Any disagreement over which is more correct -- Mark or Luke -- is a denial of and attack upon the inspiration and authority of the Bible. ALL SCRIPTURE is equally inspired. The idea that some parts of the Bible are more "correct" than others is sheer nonsense. Also, we need to realize that, strictly speaking, the Gospels are NOT biographies. Grace to you, kalos |

Kalos, I guess I should let Steve answer for himself, but from reading his previous post, I think what he means by "more correct" is in reference to chronological order, not inspiration. retxar |
