I'm aware in most churches, the pastors wife is referred to as the first lady. Here recently I've noticed that some of them prefer to be called Elect Lady. My question is are these titles biblical and if so, please share the scriptures to back it up. I do know that the term is noted in II John 1, but don't truly understand it can/should be taken it context. Thank you. | ||||||

Hi, Gospelpearl... It is interesting how the term "elect" was interwoven into the common parlance of the NT. You'll find this word being used in greeting in places like Titus 1:1, 1 Peter 1:2, 2 John 1:1 (as you mentioned), and 2 John 1:13. One might argue that since we cannot know with complete certitude who is elect and who is not, that the apostles were expressing that sort of knowledge from a divine source.
