2 | the goat a sign for satan? | OT general | prayon | 15574
Goats were of great importance in ancient life. In ancient economy goats were very useful and thus were a measure of wealth (1Sam 25:2; 2 Chron 17;11). Since the goat was so important it became the sacrificial animal. It is not that they are a symbol of satan, - but just that our sins were transfered from us onto the goat because God required a blood sacrifice for our sins. prayon
3 | the goat a sign for satan? | OT general | Kelkat | 15591
But in movies and in "occult" circles, the goat symbolizes satan. I had always thought they were unclean because of that relation. I recently found that no only were they clean, but they were one of the animals God chose to receive as sacrifices. I was just wondering how they became a modern day symbol for satan.

Kelkat, the movies and world may use the goat to symbolize Satan. But, does the Bible. Jesus did separate the goats and sheep (Matt 25:32-33), but I do not see them as being Satan. Steve

Thanks for the answer Steve. Nothing I can find in scripture shows the goat to be evil, or even bad for that matter. That's why I think it is odd that it is used that way today. I was just wondering how that practice got started, and why. It is a LONG story about how I even got to studying goats (lol) but I came to the same place. Scripurally, they are good. Thanks again, Kelkat |
