I do not wish to be left out of the current question posting marathon. So here is my question: Can someone please explain the meaning of every word in every verse contained in Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21? Some sample questions are: How could God do what those verses say he did? Are these verses meant to be taken literally or figuratively? How could any verse be true or accurate until and unless an explanation is given for every last syllable? Why didn't God author 20 more volumes to explain the meaning of the Bible? Since some of us walk by sight and not by faith, doesn't God owe us an explanation for his past acts and decisions? Since the Bible doesn't tell us how to bake a cake, repair a motorcycle or fly an airplane, then shouldn't those things be best left alone? After all, anything not in the Bible couldn't possibly be true, according to a line by a strong member of the forum? Why is there air? Who's on first? What family did Cain marry into, if not his own? Explain how we are both under the law and not under the law at the same time. Define justification, sanctification, redemption, salvation, atonement without using a Bible dictionary, which is a hoax perpetrated on us by the experts. How many years do I have to be abandoned on a desert island before I become a world class Bible expert? Shouldn't all the property owned by ever seminary be sold and the proceeds go to provide Bibles for remote tribes and peoples? They could then figure out the plan of salvation for themselves and save us the expense of sending people into all the world to preach the gospel to every creature. The list of questions is limited only by one's imagination. No question is too silly. Post away. --JVH0212 |

Of course, John, some of your questions are easier than the others are longer, and harder than shorter, but not as clear as the ones that are more understandable if read in context without annotations. Or, to put it in other words, the answer to Who's on first? is Yes. The majority of Bible scholars go to the Solomon Islands to get wise and become world-class experts. But I'm disappointed you didn't throw in a Bonus Question. I wanted a Bonus Question. Oh, well, guess I'll not get one......But wait -- here's one that maybe will do: Who was Adam's best man and Eve's brides-maid at their wedding? --Hank | ||||||

Hank: Good post. Frameable, in fact. Now I'll ask you one. At Cain's wedding reception, were the guest's last names printed on the placecards? To support your answer would you please: 1) give Scripture reference; 2) present two signed affidavits clearly stating that the experts were wrong as usual; 3) include at least two sentences of gibberish in your answer; and 4) include at least one line from a strong member of the forum. --JVH0212 |
