Hi Ben, My job requires me to deal with small businesspersons every day. Many of these are dishonest, greedy and back-stabbing. I usually pray for patience, wisdom and a long-suffering attitude. In the mornings I do not kneel and pray, but pray as I drink my coffee, usually on the back patio. I also try to read a chapter of Proverbs every morning for wisdom. My wife and I made a commitment to spend an hour or so in Bible study every day. Sometimes we do not study, but we are getting better at keeping this commitment every week. The end of my day includes reading a chapter of Psalms for courage to carry out God’s will in my life. At bedtime my wife and I usually kneel together, hold hands, and pray. Sometimes these prayers can be quite lengthy depending on what is going on in our lives at the time. I find the more I pray and study the Bible, the more I want to pray and study the Bible. |

Thank you David, I'm very encouraged by your reply, and it's so true the fact the more we pray and study the bible, the more we to. I myself have been struggling in this area the past few days and not feeling close to God I've found myself slipping back to my old sinful nature. But I've now come to realise the importance of not feeling guiltyed out by that, because of God's grace (Romans 5:20-6:4), and its that which makes us love him and want to get to know him all the more and I can now earnestly continue to build my relationship with God and remember to rely on his strength and not my own. Your brother in Christ Ben |

Ben, I read your profile and see that you are a relatively new Christian too. I hope the change in all areas of your life have been as rewarding as in mine. I tend to look at the guilt I feel when I don’t pray and study as I feel I should is like the guilt my mother would put on me when I didn’t call her regularly (she is with Jesus now :) It is not God condemning me, but Him missing me. Amen about relying on His strength. Yesterday I had a day of anger and resentment due to my trying to control things that should have been in His hands. Another lesson learned. My e-mail address is in my profile. Use it if I can help in any way or if you need someone to just listen. God bless you, David |
