1 | What is the purpose of the anointing? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 85107
Elijahprophet:Welcome to the Forum! You choose an interesting name, is there something prophetic about the name? I read the other notes about anointing. In James 5:13-15 this refers to anointing the sick who are believers. There is nothing special about the oil, or the Elders prayers, or evnen the sick. This is an outward act of obedience of the Elders, the one who is anointed, asking for the LORDS healing. The healing person may experience physical death but the person is healed in the presents of the Lord, or it may be the Lords will to be to be physically healed, here and now. I find your question especially timely, as tonight my elders are anointing me, as I have just been told I have cancer. So I speak in that which I will have first hand knowledge. Blessings to you, enjoy the forum. justme |

I wanted to give a little input on this subject, there are 3 kinds of anointing, 1. oil, 2. compound of spices,3. Holy Spirit. you must remember that the anointing is not only and outward act of obedience to the scripture but it is a spiritual presence being manifested in the flesh, for example, jesus had 2 anointings, also look at 1 john cpt 2;27, justme, i know what you are going thru, i also had cancer and was anointed and by the time they checked me again, it was gone. the anointing is not only for the sick but those who are called by God for a spicific work also recieve the anointing by the Holy Sprit to preform the task.

DairyLeader5: Thank you for your response. Anointing has many symbolic meanings, that interweave with the Holy Spirit, being set aside for a special task, and even the laying on of the hands is significant. NOTHING the Lord Jesus has instructed us to do, in His Word is without purpose. I have found that often there are several meanings in scripture of the same verse. My anointing was most eventful, and awasome. The love that surronded us and the Mercy and Grace of Christ was present. I am blessed to have a Pastor and Elders that believe in anointing the sick. I am glad the Lord choose to heal your body, there is a reason, I am sure you know the reason and are making the most of the time God has given you. I intend to praise the Lord until my time is complete, no matter when that is. Blessings and peace to you. justme |
