1 | Was Melchesedek Jesus ? | Bible general Archive 1 | Darlene King | 83811 | ||
What are your thoughts or oppinions on Melchisedek ? I have found so little in the Bible about him, yet he seems to be so very important--having no father or mother, no beginning and no end. This sounds like Jesus. Is it possible that Melchisedek was a previous incarnation of Jesus-I don't mean -as in reincarnation- I know that one of the three men who visited Abraham seemed to be Jesus. Do you have anymore in put on this very puzzleing person ? I feel we are missing something very important here. Thanks, Darlene King |

Darlene King Here are the verses that mention Melchizedek in the Bible. He was a type or shadow of Christ in that there is no beginning or ending given for him in the Bible. Some hold that he was a incarnation of Christ but whether he was or wasn't holds little importance. What is important is the symbology of being eternal and being a priest not of the order of Levite. Thus showing us two pictures of Christ. One being eternal and two being our high priest. Genesis 14:18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. Psalm 110:4 The Lord has sworn And will not relent, "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek." Hebrews 5:6 As He also says in another place: "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek"; Hebrews 5:10 called by God as High Priest "according to the order of Melchizedek," Hebrews 6:20-7:1 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. [7:1] For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, Hebrews 7:10-11 for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him. [11] Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron? Hebrews 7:15 And it is yet far more evident if, in the likeness of Melchizedek, there arises another priest Hebrews 7:17 For He testifies: "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek." Don't miss the message looking for the mystery. EdB |
