In Genesis 3:16, what is meant by Gods' directive to Eve when he said, "Your desire "shall be" for your husband, and he shall "rule" over you? I am preaching through Genesis right now and I would like some enlightenment on this passage. Thanks

There are 2 genereic answers to this hebrew idiom. One, is what most of us are familiar with, that women "seek out" men; i.e they desire them. The second is deeper. Since Eve, lost womans place, as it were, woman would be envious of man's position and thus desire to rule him...witness the henpecked husband. However, remember that our modle is Christ and the Church (EPH), and that even though we are deeling with fallen men, we are also deeling with fallen women. Genesis is a tough book, look through your NT for references to marriage, the Bride, the Groom etc, for more insights on this picture.
