1 | Greek words NOT translated ............ | Bible general Archive 1 | Baptistbred | 69597
I have the Logos Library Digital version of the KJV. At Hundreds of places within the text there are "little crosses" signifying: "A Greek word occurs that is not directly translated in the King James Version." An example is Romans 8:29 in which Strongs # 1161 Greek word is not translated. Can someone shed some light on the fact of "Why did not the translators translate these Greek words if they were in the original Greek text, and "Does the NASB and other versions ALSO not translate certain Greek words in the Greek Manuscripts?

Hello Baptistbred There instances in every translation except for the literal ones by Green or Young. There are good reasons for doing this: a) the source text is not understandable in the target language such as in idioms and b) the grammar of the target language is different enough from the source language that words must be added or omitted to make the sentence readable.
