1 | Question about Deacon's Staff | Bible general Archive 1 | wwjd2day | 68529 | ||
Help! I once heard a story about something called a “deacon's staff” that was used in church services, years ago. But, I've had no luck finding any information on it. Have any of you ever heard of this. Better yet, have you ever ran across any references to a “deacon's staff” in any books on church history? As I recall..... A deacon's Staff was a 8-10 foot long wooden pole with a hard wood ball on one end and a feather on the other. The deacons would walk up and down the isles during a service caring the poles. The hard wood ball was used to get the attention of disruptive parishioners. The feather was used to awaken the ones that fell asleep. Has any one ever heard this before? |
