Tom I envy you, but I repent! :-). I have the same Bible in Genuine leather and love it. The calfskin I think is about the same as the one Foundation did for "In Touch Ministry". It is so soft and sets so nice in the hand, it feels just so right! I would probably never put it down. Just holding and reading it has to be a pleasure. Be careful around water. I have the genuine leather edition and got caught in a sprinkle. The primary purpose of the gold embossing on the edges of a Bible is to protect the pages from moisture. On Lockman Foundation Bibles it doesn’t work well. When a few drops of water hit my Bible instead of the gold embossing doing its job and protecting the pages, it simply washed off. Almost like cheap paint. I now have a Bible with a dozen white spots on the side. It looks funny but still works fine :-) I have many other Bibles and have spilt water and yes even had them in the rain and never have I had this problem. I have just now taken my Thompson Bible and a little water and tried to rub off some to the gold embossing and can’t. I E-mailed Lockman Foundation about the warranty and they said since it was caused by rain it wasn't covered. I disagree but I'm now wiser, I think little of their gold embossing. Do not let water come within fifteen feet of your new Bible :-) EdB |
