WHERE DOES IT SAY IN THE BIBLE THAT MY PASTOR SHOULD BE CALLED REVEREND? | ||||||

It doesn't. The only place the word "reverend" is used is Psa. 111:9: "He sent redemption unto His people: He hath commanded His covenant for ever: holy and reverend is His name." (KJV) The Hebrew word here is yare' (yaw-ray') and means "to fear; morally, to revere; caus. to frighten." If you call your pastor "Reverend" it would be a title of respect, meaning you "revere" him or his position. I, personally, address my pastor as Pastor, which means "a shepherd" (see Eph. 4:11). This title truly characterizes him. |
