HELLO BRETHREN, I APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE TO MY QUESTION RE:DEATH OR SLEEP....HOWEVER, I AM AFRAID YOU MISUNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY. LET ME SEE IF I CAN CLARIFY. I HAVE A "THEORY" OF MY OWN AND I AM WONDERING IF THERE IS SCRIPTURE THAT WOULD SUPPORT IT, BESIDES THE SCRIPTURE I MENTIONED EARLIER. MY THEORY IS THIS....WHEN WE (OUR BODIES) DIE, SUPPOSE WE (OUR SPIRITS) DO FALL ASLEEP, TIL THE RAPTURE. CONSIDER THE FACT THAT ONCE WE CEASE TO BE OF THIS WORLD WE ARE OUTSIDE OF THE WORLDS "TIME". HAVE YOU EVER GONE TO SLEEP AND WHEN YOU AWAKE, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOU HAVE ONLY BEEN ASLEEP FOR MINUTES AND IT HAS BEEN HOURS? MY THEORY IS THAT IT IS THE SAME WHEN OUR BODIES DIE....OUR SPIRITS SLEEP BUT TIME DOES NOT PASS THE SAME AS IT DOES FOR THOSE WHO REMAIN. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT TO GOD A DAY IS AS A THOUSAND YEARS AND A THOUSAND YEARS AS A DAY. IF WHEN OUR BODIES DIE WE WENT IMMEDIATELY TO BE WITH THE LORD, THEN WHY WOULD THE LORD RETURN US TO OUR BODIES ONLY TO BE RESURRECTED AT THE RAPTURE? AND WHAT ABOUT LAZARUS? DO YOU SUPPOSE HE WAS WITH THE FATHER AND JESUS CALLED HIM BACK? IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT A GOD WHO IS ORDERELY AND CALLS US TO BE ORDERLY AS WELL, WOULD MAKE IT SOOOO COMPLICATED. I KNOW WHAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN TAUGHT, AND I KNOW THIS IS A "THEORY", BUT I FIND SO MANY PLACES WHERE SCRIPTURE SPEAKS OF THE DEAD AS "SLEEPING". COMMENTS??? THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT. BLESSINGS TO ALL, PAM |

Man consists of 1. Body, 2. Soul, 3. Spirit 1 Thess 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Body is the "housing" for the soul and spirit, the soul is the "life" in man (or the life in any other creature), the spirit is the "mental orientation" of man. When a man dies his body becomes lifeless, the soul/life is gone and the spirit/mental orientation goes to sleep. If this is not the case how do you explain the following? David has not ascended into heaven yet, and if David hasn't ascended into heaven yet, I don't think anyone else has either. Acts 2:27-29 27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.KJV Acts 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, KJV The following are some other scriptures which show we do not have any thoughts or knowledge after we die. Ps 6:5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? KJV Eccl 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. KJV Isa 38:18 For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. KJV Eccl 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. KJV Job 14:12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. KJV |
