HELLO BRETHREN, I APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE TO MY QUESTION RE:DEATH OR SLEEP....HOWEVER, I AM AFRAID YOU MISUNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY. LET ME SEE IF I CAN CLARIFY. I HAVE A "THEORY" OF MY OWN AND I AM WONDERING IF THERE IS SCRIPTURE THAT WOULD SUPPORT IT, BESIDES THE SCRIPTURE I MENTIONED EARLIER. MY THEORY IS THIS....WHEN WE (OUR BODIES) DIE, SUPPOSE WE (OUR SPIRITS) DO FALL ASLEEP, TIL THE RAPTURE. CONSIDER THE FACT THAT ONCE WE CEASE TO BE OF THIS WORLD WE ARE OUTSIDE OF THE WORLDS "TIME". HAVE YOU EVER GONE TO SLEEP AND WHEN YOU AWAKE, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOU HAVE ONLY BEEN ASLEEP FOR MINUTES AND IT HAS BEEN HOURS? MY THEORY IS THAT IT IS THE SAME WHEN OUR BODIES DIE....OUR SPIRITS SLEEP BUT TIME DOES NOT PASS THE SAME AS IT DOES FOR THOSE WHO REMAIN. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT TO GOD A DAY IS AS A THOUSAND YEARS AND A THOUSAND YEARS AS A DAY. IF WHEN OUR BODIES DIE WE WENT IMMEDIATELY TO BE WITH THE LORD, THEN WHY WOULD THE LORD RETURN US TO OUR BODIES ONLY TO BE RESURRECTED AT THE RAPTURE? AND WHAT ABOUT LAZARUS? DO YOU SUPPOSE HE WAS WITH THE FATHER AND JESUS CALLED HIM BACK? IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT A GOD WHO IS ORDERELY AND CALLS US TO BE ORDERLY AS WELL, WOULD MAKE IT SOOOO COMPLICATED. I KNOW WHAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN TAUGHT, AND I KNOW THIS IS A "THEORY", BUT I FIND SO MANY PLACES WHERE SCRIPTURE SPEAKS OF THE DEAD AS "SLEEPING". COMMENTS??? THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT. BLESSINGS TO ALL, PAM |

Pam, There isn't any scripture that supports your theory. Your theory is shot down("...SUPPOSE WE (OUR SPIRITS) DO FALL ASLEEP") right from the beginning. Our Spirits do not sleep. As scripture states, we go to be with the Lord when we're absent from the body. 2 Cor. 5:8 To "sleep" as in (1 Cor. 11:30 you mentioned) and in 1 Thess 4:14 "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him." in the Greek means "to decease", "be dead". It's our bodies that sleep(are dead). bgg P.S. It is much easier to read and understand posts when they are not all CAPS. :-) |
