Trying to get a new lite on the subject. I was taught growing up that the Bible says for women to keep silence in the Churches and that they are not permitted to teach in the assembly. Was taught that women teaching outside the assembly was permitted. Many scriptures agree with this. Till not so many years ago when the womens lib thing came about, this was the way it was. Trying to possibly better my understanding on the subject as I now attend a church that allows women to teach in the assembly. I personally dont have a problem with it and I love the Church I attend, but just want to make sure I am in the Will of God concerning my Worship to Him in the Assembly, because what I think doesn't really matter, but what God wants is my desire. Thanks for your reply. God Bless, Gump | ||||||

Hi gump, My suggested comparison verses would be 1 Corinthians 14:33 and 1 Timothy 3:4,5. 1 Cor 14:33, "...for God is not a (God) of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints." 1 Timothy 3:4,5, "He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity (but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of (God)?)" Parentheses mine for comparison. ******* 1 Corinthians 11:13, "Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to (God) with head uncovered?" I think that it is a matter of how things are perceived by other people. If a man prays with a hat or cap on, (or a man sings our National Anthem with one on) they are perceived as disgracing their God or nation. They are not giving the expected respect to their Head or nation. 1 Corinthians 11:5, "But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying, disgraces her head;..." If she is praying and usurping the leadership of the man then she is disgracing her head. There is no doubt, however, that men have fallen short of their responsibilities as leaders of their families and churches. 1 Timothy 1:6, "For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions." And working our way back in the Scriptures, verse 5, "But the goal of our instruction [commandment] is love from a pure heart, and a good conscience and a sincere faith." And verse 4b,..."furthering the administration of (God) [God's provision] which is by faith." We need both men and women of faith who will lead our families and churches. But we need our men to act like men and be strong; not giving up our leadership easily or thoughtlessly. 1 Corinthians 12:4, "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same (Spirit). And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. And there are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." Verse 11, "But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as (He) wills." Verse 24, "But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another."
