Aussie, I have seen the same thing happening in other areas. The knowledge gap is getting so broad between the specialist and the 'everyday man' that we are relinquishing more and more authority to those whose value systems are quite suspect. I see this as a very dangerous trend that could lead to a loss of religious(and other) freedoms. A ruling class of intellectuals has always had great sway but now there is a tendency to abdicate control altogether. There are so many fronts to battle I feel at a loss as to how to respond. Please, your thoughts. |

Thanks for your response Newlump. One of the tragic areas for me is that the political system is set to silence true free speach under false pretenses. Take the laws on anti discrimination. In the end they only discriminate against Christian belief. Here in Australia we christians are to be tolerant of all other religions even to the point of changing our normal customs to accommodate other beliefs. The reverse is not true. Other religions are wanting the Christians to change but not them. Consider the UK where the calander is being changed so as not to offed the Muslims. Is the answer to such trends for christians to become political active or active in voicing their convictions without condesenation? The world is not a new stage for Christ as the first century was. This is not to say Christs power is diminished but the setting for the gospel is. What do you think? |
