I'm having an underlying problem with my faith that I need to find closure with. And it stems from my love of animals and God's view of animals. Most christians I speak with view animals as things God gave us to do with however we please. Some things I read in the Bible make me think God really loves animals and then other things make me think He really could care less. Jesus states that God is aware of every death, even that of a sparrow. That makes me think He is very in tune not only to humans but to all His creations. But how does an animal lover accept God's choice of animal sacrifices in light of the fact He knew they wouldn't accomplish what Jesus did? I understand He favors humans over animals because we are made in His image. I've talked to some Christians who tell me to get over my love of animals and to stop trying to make God fit into my view of Him. Is this what I'm trying to do? | ||||||

How can you have an underlying problem with your faith, or what does faith have to do with your love for animals? You mention "most christians you speak with" It would help to know if you are a Christian yourself, and I will assume that you are, but anyway, have you read where it says in the bible "that the first shall be last and the last shall be first" or "if you keep your life, you will loose it" but "if you loose your life for my sake, you shall find it? Well, it means that if we don't put God first or if we hold on to our own understanding of life we can't live, we merely exsit, but if we do, we find Life and understand life as HE does and love all that God created, even animals. Now Jesus came into the world to die for people, not animals. So become a Lover of God so you can accept animals as to why God created them for. Jesus came to set us free, even free to love animals, :) I love people with a sensitive heart. Gods Blessings and Peace to YOU! PS - Now go tell your Christians friends how much you love Jesus! |

A very good response! If we look in Genesis, Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." Clearly God has given us dominion over the animals of the earth. I personally dont take that to mean we can do whatever we like... Beastiality is a sin. Torturing any living creature is wrong. However, we need to eat. Your remark about becoming a lover of Christ is absolutely right on the mark! There is nothing wrong with being an "animal lover." Christ should be first and foremost in our lives. If a choice has to made between a person dying and an animal dying... The person SHOULD take priority. God bless and keep you Clay |
