Do all have gifts of healings? 1 Cor. 12:30 RoseS, You ask: "Is the gift of healing from the Holy Spirit for all of us?" Yours is a very interesting question. Thank you for posting it. First, it is the Holy Spirit who gives the gifts "just as HE wills." It is the Spirit, not man, who decides which gift He will give to each believer. 1 Corinthians 12:11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. (NASB) This verse is written in the context of Spiritual gifts (see preceding verses). 12:11 But it is one and the same Spirit who does all this; as he wishes, he gives a different gift to each person. (TEV). Again, HE, the Holy Spirit, GIVES A DIFFERENT GIFT TO EACH PERSON. That He gives a different gift to each person indicates that the same gift is not given to all of us. Second, "Do all have gifts of healings?" No, they do not. 1 Corinthians 12: 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way. (New King James Version) The implied or expected answer to each of the following questions is "No." Are all apostles? (No.) Are all prophets? (No.) Are all teachers? (No.) Are all workers of miracles? (No.) Do all have GIFTS OF HEALINGS? (No.) Do all speak with tongues? (No.) Do all interpret? (No.) Hope this helps. Grace to you, kalos |

Thanks for your response and the references. NO is not in the biblical passage. At Mark 16 verses 14-18 The Commissioning of the Eleven. Jesus tells the diciples, "Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick and they will heal them." |

RoseS: Thank you. No disrespect or discourtesy toward you is intended here. I merely address your previous reply. Did I say "No" was in the the biblical passage? Instead, did I not say, "The *implied* or *expected* answer to each of the following questions is "No"? On the other hand, let's try it your way. If the answer to the questions is not No, then it must be Yes. So let's try that and see what we get. Are all apostles? (Yes, ALL are apostles.) Are all prophets? (Yes, ALL are prophets.) Are all teachers? (Yes, ALL are teachers.) Are all workers of miracles? (Yes, ALL are workers of miracles.) Do all have GIFTS OF HEALINGS? (Yes, ALL have gifts of healings.) Do all speak with tongues? (Yes, ALL speak with tongues.) Do all interpret? (Yes, ALL interpret.) Now we just need to re-define the word "all" to make the above true. By the way, Mark 16:16 is probably not a genuine part of Mark's Gospel. Grace to you, kalos |

No disrespect taken. I am just searching and I appreciate hearing your views. Having an open mind can lead us to new horizons. "Seek and ye shall find", is one of my favorites. I am grateful to find this level of knowledge and I am looking forward to finding some new insight into the Bible. I am in a faith renewal class and I have so many questions that no one would ever answer or even take the time to express their views. So please except my sincere thanks. Rose |

RoseS: You are welcome. And my thanks to you for participating in the forum. I hope you like it here and decide to stick around. :-) It's great to hear from someone who is eagerly searching and open to what the Bible says and plainly teaches. Always be a Berean (Acts 17:11). Whatever you hear or read, check it out in the Scriptures and make sure it lines up with the Word of God. Grace to you, kalos |
