Dear Brother Doc, Traducianism held by Martin Luther... Is it possible for you provide the source where I can retrieve Luther's article on this subject? Though my church is Lutheran based, as far as my memory serves me, I cannot recall the idea of soul inherited from parents in my mind. What I have had in mind is pretty much similar to what you have said about the creationism view. It would be good to know more about Lurther's thought on the subject. Thanks and Shalom Azure |

Dear Sister Azure, The reference with which I am familiar was from "The Theology of Martin Luther" by Paul Althaus. He states, "As far as the origin of the individual soul is discussed, Luther inclines to follow Augustine's theory of traducianism without wishing to make a dogma of it." Althaus cites "D. Martin Luther's Werke" (kritische Gesamtausgabe), but I can't find an English translation in order to provide you with the particulars. Sorry, ma'am! :-( In Him, Doc |
