1 | What is the morning star here? | Rev 2:28 | Biblebeliever | 80688
The morning star is clearly a reference to Jesus Christ.See Rev.22:16(ignore the niv in Isaiah 14:12 calling Lucifer the morning star.this is a poor translation).Doctrinaly the people being spoken to here are in the Tribulation waiting for The Lord to come back.Historicly Rev.1-3:22 refers to the 2000 year history of the church.Ending with Laodicea (that's us). Spiritualy Rev.1-3:22 can be applied to any Christian or church at any time. This short answer should help at least give you some light here.

'Isaiah 14:12 Look how you have fallen from the sky, O shining one, son of the dawn![22] You've been cut down to the ground, O conqueror of the nations! [22] translator's note. The Hebrew text has rjv-/b llyh ("Helel son of Shachar"), which is probably a name for the the morning star (Venus) or the crescent moon.' (New English Translation www.netbible.com) You write: "ignore the niv in Isaiah 14:12 calling Lucifer the morning star.this is a poor translation" Prove it. What, if any, evidence do you have to show that Isa. 14:12 in the NIV is a poor translation -- i.e., what evidence other than your own personal bias, your dislike of it? No one should translate scripture to fit their own doctrinal preconceptions. |

In Isaiah 14:12 it says in the niv"how you have fallen from heaven,o morning star, son of the dawn". Check this with Rev.22:16 and Rev.2:28.Jesus Christ is the morning star.2 choices here:#1 Either someone wants Jesus to fall from Heaven(this would be Satan).#2 Or Lucifer wants to hide his identity and "be like the Most High" by stealing his name. This is pretty simple stuf Bro.

You probably know what I'm gonna say.Anyhow, the Textus Receptus (or Majority text)has always been the Protestant text used to translate OUR bibles with. The Vaticanus and Siniaticus are the manuscripts used by the Catholic Church for translating bibles. The A.V.,also known as the King James Bible was translated strictly from the protestant text.I'm a protestant. So I stick with this book. All other translations use the Catholic texts or are at least half translated from them. This is a 10 year course in manuscript evidence in one paragraph.God bless.
