2 | Will unbelievers be raised from Sheol? | Rev 21:8 | prayon | 31741
Greetings, The way it was explained to me by someone is this was. If one never had the opportunity to be told of the one true God then God will judge them on their life. Whether they ever heard of the gospel or not they would still have a conscious. Did the person live by that conscious or were they a person without morals? Our God is a just God. He would not judge someone for not accepting Him if they had never had the opportunity to hear about Him. prayon
3 | Will unbelievers be raised from Sheol? | Rev 21:8 | Godissogood2me | 31889
Thank you for your insight and your willingness to share what someone told you. I do believe that God will judge those who never heard on the basis of their life. I think the Scripture reference for this can be found somewhere in the book of Romans. Would anyone know what that is? All said and done, it is true that God being God, we will never understand everything while on this side of eternity. But it should suffice to know that He is God and He is just and merciful. If He weren't, we wouldn't be saved. For He died for us while we were still sinners, and I know He is not partial. We didn't do anything to deserve His grace anymore than those who never heard of Him did anything to deserve His punishment.
4 | Will unbelievers be raised from Sheol? | Rev 21:8 | Reformer Joe | 31915
EVERYONE has been informed. God has made himself known to all men. No one has an "out." Scripture makes this crystal clear. "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for GOD MADE IT EVIDENT TO THEM. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been CLEARLY SEEN, being understood through what has been made, so that THEY ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE." --Romans 1:18-20 God has made himself known. The reason people claim ignorance is that they suppress the truth , denying what is right in front of their faces. --Joe! |

5 | Will unbelievers be raised from Sheol? | Rev 21:8 | Hank | 31993
Joe, God has indeed made himself known; it is right in front of our faces, surely enough. Perhaps though we are many of us not unlike the little boy who wondered whether he had a nose like other little boys, since he himself had never seen it. He lived long ago, before the invention of the mirror, and so one day he asked his mother, "Do I have a nose?" The mother led him to a quiet pool of water and invited him to look at his reflection. He, of course, then was able to see clearly that he indeed had a nose..... There are some who may need to be led to see what is in front of their faces, that God does make himself known. Perhaps that's part of our work as ambassadors. Soli Deo Gloria! --Hank

Hank: Proclaiming what nature and our consciences proclaim is definitely part of our work as ambassadors. Just as the Bible reveals in words what God has revealed in creation and our consciences (reinforcing it via special revelation), so are we to announce to our fellow humans what the Bible reveals. The way I see it is this: 1. General revelation given to all human beings reveals the glory of God in creation and His perfect moral law to all human beings via our consciences. Our unrighteous suppression of the truth underlying creation and failure to heed our consciences results in our just condemnation. Again, this applies to all men. 2. Special revelation was given to the nation of Israel and subsequently to all the world. This special revelation reiterates what the general revelation tells us about our condemnation. Note that this is not NEW information, but rather a reminder/reinforcement of what we already know. In addition to the message of our just condemnation, the special revelation (which is contained in the Bible) also provides the message of God's salvation which He provides through faith in the person and work of Christ Jesus. Therefore, God's judgment of humanity is an element of both general and special revelation, but the good news of God's gracious forgiveness of sinners is only found in the special revelation of God as seen in the Scriptures. The interesting thing that we have to note in light of Romans 10 is that whether one happens to be Arminian or Reformed, it is very clear that people cannot receive Christ unless Christ is preached to them. Therefore, we need to realize our important role as God's ambassadors, reavealing to all the world the special revelation which God has entrusted to us. In order for anyone to be saved, they must hear the gospel! --Joe! |
