1 | Need more on THE HOUR and the ALL who he | Rev 20:5 | Isabel | 7361
Thank you Tim and Nolan. I certaintly don't want to beat a dead horse here. However, I would still like a response to the issue of THE HOUR and the ALL who hear the sound of His voice aspect. This discussion began when I asked if Rev.20:5 was in parenthesis, seeing that I find no other scripture that alludes to or comfirms more than one resurrection. For example, examine Psalms 1:5; 7:6; 149:9; Matthew 10:15; 11:22,24; 12:36; Luke 11:31,32; Acts 24:15,25; 1 Corinthians 15:22,23; Hebrews 6:2; 2 Peter 2:9; 3:7; 1 John 4:17; Rev. 14:7, they all either state THE HOUR or THE DAY, implying a specific event for both the just and the unjust. Most of these verses cited are also preceded by the article "a" or "the" - which implies ONE Resurrection for both the just and the unjust, whereas Rev. 20:5 is the only verse I can find that is alluding to another resurrection 1000 years later, and that verse is parenthesized by several other versions. While I would never question God's word, I feel it would not be heretical to ask if there is the remotest possibility that the translators might have unwittingly inferred there is a resurrection 1000 years later, especially since that verse comes right after the first mention of the redeeemed reigning with Christ for 1000 years. Being that there are so many other scripture that are specific about The Resurrection, compared solely to Rev 20:5, one would be more prone to lean towards there being only one resurrection, rather than two. If Rev 20:5 is corrct, then I'm certain there must be another place in the Bible that mentions or alludes to more than one resurrection, or that will confirm Rev. 20:5. If you cannot provide me with other corroborating scripture to Rev. 20:5, may I at least have your thoughts about THE HOUR and the ALL who hear His voice aspect? Thank You! Yours In Christ!
2 | Need more on THE HOUR and the ALL who he | Rev 20:5 | charis | 7362
Dear Isabel, If I may ask, what is the purpose of knowing the answer to this question? Please, I mean no harm. I understand that all believers should desire to know more about God, His plan, and how to live in Him. When I was a new believer, I was stricken with a curiosity about the end times. I am not that 'old' now, but I can no longer see that point in striving for that which is hidden, and will remain hidden until the return of the Lord. Please remind me. If possible, tell me where in the Word we are encouraged to seek after such answers. Again, please do not be upset with me. I see a lot of focus on these things, yet no one has explained from the Bible why they spend so much time on them. In Christ Jesus, charis |

Brother charis: I am working on a new book about The End Times, and I saw this site as an opportunity to glean wisdom from others, especially about a topic that can have serious ramifications for those who postulate theories based on conjecture and inference, rather than allowing scripture to validate and verify other scripture. I'm solely using all and whatever resources available to ascertain truth. As a teacher and a writer, I feel an obligation to seek whatever answers may lie out there, rather than depending solely on my own conclusions. I'm also trying to adhere to James warnings:James 3:1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark,(James 3:1-5.)" I guess the purpose of all this, Brother Charis, is that I don't want to get in trouble with God! Yours In Christ! |
